People uprooted from Moyie (1) View on map

Moyie was established by non-Indigenous settlers as a mining community in 1897. The St. Eugene silver-lead mine, east of Moyie, operated from 1893 to 1929, and led to the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) building the Crowsnest line. In the early 1900s, the population peaked at around 1,200 residents, mostly men working for the mill and mine. The population drastically declined after the mine closure.

This person will be included on the monument panels in a future addition.
