Lynnmour, east of the City of North Vancouver, was pre-empted in 1864. Hugh Burr established a 169-acre farm on the east side of Seymour Creek, followed by John Linn, who founded a farm east of the mouth of Lynn Creek in 1867. The area gradually developed as an agricultural community, with a one-room school opening in 1914 and the Lynnmour Grocery and Post Office in 1926.
In the early 1900s, Akiyo Kogo began farming near Lynnmour at the foot of Mount Seymour along the Seymour River. In 1924, Joseph Ellis and Walter S. Young bought the property and expanded the five-acre farm into a successful dairy serving communities from Deep Cove to Lonsdale. Now known as Maplewood Farm, it was the last working farm in North Vancouver by 1970.
