以下の文章は、今後サイト更新時に日本語に翻訳される予定です。

Namu (also Namu Harbour), located on the traditional territories of the Heiltsuk First Nation, was established by non-Indigenous settlers as a cannery townsite in 1893. The cannery changed ownership and was rebuilt several times. In 1911, a sawmill was established. In 1928, it was sold to BC Packers Ltd., and a reduction plant, cold-storage component, and a modern ship-repair yard were added.

The cannery’s facilities had segregated living spaces and bathrooms, including a Japan Town. It appears that many Japanese Canadians often travelled between Namu and Vancouver depending on available work.
